WIRELESS TERMINAL FAQS

Is cellular processing technology the right fit for you? Wireless credit card terminals are finally catching up to the cell phone craze, with smaller units that are more user-friendly than ever before and contain many additional features. With all of this freedom to process, there are also caveats that you need to be aware of prior to making the move to wireless credit card processing.

Entrepreneurs across the U.S. have thrived due to their ability to adapt to the latest technologies and stay on the cutting edge of business. This versatility may naturally draw you into exploring wireless credit card processing technology.

When to use a wireless credit card terminal

Wireless credit card terminals are a great solution for on-the-go retailers who bring their products and services directly to their customers. In sidewalk sales, flea markets, trade shows, sports events, taxis, or even at the customer's front door, merchants can perform highly secure credit transactions with speed and ease.

Common problems with wireless terminals

While some merchants never encounter a problem with the actual wireless credit card terminal, they will experience problems with the coverage and connectivity that the wireless companies provide. EMG utilizes one of the largest wireless networks in the U.S. to support our wireless terminal programs -- Cingular Wireless/AT&T. Unfortunately, like any cell phone, you run the risk of not having cellular reception when you need to process a transaction. This leaves you in a very difficult position of not being able to complete a sale.

Solutions

One solution of occasional poor wireless coverage is a commonly-used feature called "store and forward". Store and forward enables you to store the credit card information in your credit card terminal without it actually receiving an authorization from the processing network. Then, once you have wireless coverage or access to a landline, you will need to authorize all of the stored transactions and settle them to the processing network.

Wireless terminals are the cutting edge of technology, and provide merchants the ability to save time and money. For more information regarding wireless terminals, view the following documents:
