SECURCHEX
Guaranteed Conversion Plus (CONVG):
This product is ideal for the merchant that wants to use electronic check conversion to its fullest capacity. The merchant scans a check through the imager, and if the check is approved, Secure-Chex guarantees payment. Guaranteed Conversion Plus requires the use of an imager.
Guaranteed Conversion (CONVGM):
Merchants can have the benefit of electronic check conversion without needing to purchase an imager. The merchant scans the check through a MICR reader, and if the check is approved, Secure-Chex guarantees payment. Because Secure-Chex assumes more risk without an image of the check, the price for Guaranteed Conversion is slightly higher than for Guaranteed Conversion Plus.
Check Conversion (CONV):
This product is for merchants who have an established client base, and want to take advantage of the time saving benefits of electronic check conversion. Checks processed through the Check Conversion program are not guaranteed for payment.
Check Guarantee (VERG):
Check Guarantee is our paper-based product for merchants who want the security of knowing their checks are guaranteed for payment, but do not want to use Electronic Check Conversion.
Check Verification (VER):
Check Verification informs the merchant if the check-writer has negative information on the authorization network. Checks are not guaranteed.
Electronic Check Recovery (RCK):
The EMG Electronic Check Recovery (RCK) Program is a check collections program (no verification). It is specifically designed to recover funds from "non-sufficient funds" checks by converting them electronically via the Federal Reserve Banking System. The check writer's account is electronically debited the amount of the check and the state-allowed returned check fee.
Point-of-Sale Process for Electronic Check Conversion
The merchant must:
- Make certain the check-writer's driver's license number and state, work phone number, and physical address are on the front of the check before running it through the check reader/imager
*If the check writer has no work phone number, then the home number can be written on the check. If there is no work number or home number, write "No phone."
- Run the check through the reader/imager
- Have the customer sign the receipt
- Stamp the check "ACH PROCESSED". Do not stamp the check until the customer has signed the receipt
- Hand the check and a copy of the receipt back to the customer
- Keep the signed receipt for records. (Secure-Chex may request a copy in the event of a dispute.)
